Looking back into the memories of past generations is more important than one may think. After looking back and doing more research, it became clear to me why people in my family are the way they are. My grandpa is still very strong sitting at 91. He has always loved to be outside from what I saw as a child and a strong and personalised carver. although he loves working in this way he has began watching tv more as he has gotten older. I believe that this is true with many older generations because of how many current individuals have taken in and relied on technology.
In my grandpas home you will always find the television on with a show such as gun smoke, and bonanza featuring cowboys and indians, playing wether he is there or not. When I was younger I thought this was only due to what was popular when he was younger. With the knowledge of past generations, now it is easy to see why these television shows are so important to my grandpa.
As I brought out old photograph of past family members several stuck out in a similar way. Several images of my great uncle were pointed out to be him as a "large part indian". He was raised in Madison Ville Kentucky. We also came up upon an image of my great great grand parents. This image created emotions for all of us looking at the images.
For me, memory is very fragile. This is why photographs are extremely important to help remind me of who I am.
